The Arrival (week 2)

The foster mom has been very busy lately to post so she didn’t have a chance to post this one on time. It has been a very exciting time! Sorry we are so late.

Monday March 4th – I was super sad that I was not able to meet the other cats this past weekend. Foster mom said we had to have some results of a test before I could do that. She said she would take me on Saturday to have the test and as soon as the results came in negative I can play with the other cats without having to sit on her lap or right next to her. I can not wait till I can run and play with her cats. I can use the exercise because I think I am getting fat! Dori is getting fat too. She can not even clean herself.

Tuesday March 5th- Dori had a check up today at the vet.

She was very nervous because she said the vet looked a lot like he shelter. She thought our foster mom was bringing her back. Everyone at the vet wanted to touch her belly and pet her. The vet told her that we would have to be separated very soon because she is almost ready to have her babies. The people at the vet were very nice she said. I cannot wait to go to the vet!

Wednesday March 6TH – Today when foster mom got home she began moving my things out of the room Dori and I had been staying in. Dori is going to stay in that room by herself from now on.

It made me kind of sad. I was moved into a slightly smaller room by myself.

Foster mom reassured me that as soon as the test results came in I could roam and play with the other cats in the house. For now I am stuck in here by myself and it gets very lonely. I got some new toys brought to me which I like.

Soon enough I will be able to roam and play with all the other cats that I see underneath the door. I can’t wait for that. Until then I will wait. I keep reminding myself that every day is another step to find my forever home.

Thursday March 7th – Today I got to come out of my room and sit on my foster moms lap. I was able to watch a box with many pictures on it called a “TV.”

We watched this show called Swamp People. I really like swamp people. I get very excited when they pull those big animals out of the water. It is my new favorite thing.  I was greeted by “LuLu,” the foster mom’s orange tabby that looks a lot like us.

I don’t think she liked me much. She just stared at me with her big eyes and sat behind foster mom’s head…she is always watching me!

Foster mom surprised me before I went to bed and told me Peyton is coming tomorrow and I just can’t wait to play with him!

Friday March 8th- Today I was by myself again till foster mom got home with Peyton. I was so excited to see him and he was excited to see me. Peyton brought some new friends to meet me. One of them was named Chuck Liddell.

Then we played with a dog stuffed animal. I was sad when he had to go take his bath. Peyton came in and read me a story before bed.

Foster mom said I better get my rest because tomorrow I am going to get my shots and take my test. I am so excited because that means I can play with the other cats soon and not be so board during the day. I am one happy cat.

Saturday March 9th- This morning Foster dad came in and fed me my breakfast while foster mom got dressed. After I ate Foster mom put me into the pet taxi and we went to the car. We drove for a few minutes and got out in front of a big building. There were people and animals everywhere! We got into a long line where I met a pitbull puppy named Jersey and a shitzu named Charlie. We made friends and talked until finally it was my turn.

The doctor took me out of my pet taxi and put me on a metal table. He did not even tell me hello before he started touching me…he looked in my ears and made me open my mouth. The next thing I know he had me in a towel. I knew at that point that this could not be good. He took this sharp thing and took my blood! I saw it going into a tube! I was a big boy and only cried for a second. After I thought it was over they gave me even more shots. I was so glad when it was all over. I told my friends goodbye and we headed home. So glad my test is done. Now I can play with the other cats! Well at least that’s what I thought. Foster mom told me that she was so sorry because she had been mistaken. It seems that it will take a week to get the results of my tests in. At least Peyton is here to keep me busy. I was so happy when I got home and he was in my room waiting for me. And I got something new called a coller.

A while went by without me seeing my foster mom. She was late to bring me my lunch. I wondered what is going on. Peyton brought me some kibble. Hours later foster mom came in and told me that Dori had her babies.

There were 3 boys and 1 little girl. All healthy and orange tabbies like us. Foster mom would only bring me by the door and said I could not go in. Dori said she waited until foster mom got home from bringing me to have them because she was scared to do it without her. She said it hurt a lot and that foster mom promised her she would never have to go through that again. She told me she was happy it was over but very tired and ready to go to sleep. I went to sleep happy knowing that I would have even more friends soon enough! I wonder what they will look like and what their names will be???  Have a great week everyone!--Dex

Preggers

Day 3 – Monday

Hey guys its Dex again. Today the foster mom came in and gave us some breakfast but I didn’t see Peyton. I waited by the door for him to come in but it did not open.

Foster mom said Peyton had to go back to his momma but would be back soon to visit. I hope he comes soon because I sure miss him. Dori is feeling much better and played with me a little today.

The foster mom said I need to be careful when I play with Dori because she is pregnant. Pregnant means she will have kittens soon. I guess this means that Dori will be a teen mom.

We are not quite sure how it happened but foster mom said that it would be okay and that Dori can have her babies at her house before she finds a forever home. That makes me happy because I don’t want to go back to the shelter. It would be hard going back  into such a small cage after being in our big room! I sat in the window for a while today and told Dori what I saw. Dori cannot jump high enough right now to get into the window herself so she took a nap in the sun underneath it. I can’t wait till Dori can get into the window and see what is out there herself. I think she will like watching squirrels too.  I hope our forever home has windows where we can see squirrels. I hope Peyton comes to visit me soon. I miss playing with him.

Day 4 – Tuesday

Today was a very exciting day. Even though Dori and I spent most of the day by our self since foster mom was not home. (I wonder where she goes all day???) My nose has healed up and I am not sneezing as much. I guess foster mom was right about the drops making us feel better.

While foster mom was not home I found a bag of some of the best smelling stuff. It was in a little blue bag. I tried opening the bag myself all day but I couldn’t do it.

When foster mom came home she found me with the bag. She told me they are called “cat treats.” I REALLY like cat treats. I could eat a bag everyday!  Dori didn’t like the cat treats but that’s okay because I can eat hers too! Foster mom noticed that Dori was trying to get in the window like me so she made her something so that she can get in the window too!

Dori really likes it up there. I think she will spend all day tomorrow in the window.

My foster mom said that after I get some shots and get fixed I will be ready to find a forever home. I’m not sure what any of that means but foster mom did tell me that I would be ready before Dori because she is pregnant and cannot get shots or fixed till after her kittens are born. Foster mom and I laid on the ground for a while before bed and played.

I was happy she was there to play with me since Peyton was not there. I had a lot of fun. I chased a blue ball. Dori even played a little!

I hope at our forever home there is someone there to play with us.

Day 5 –Wednesday

No Peyton again today but I did meet one of foster mom’s cats under the door. Her name is Roxanne.

Roxanne let me know that in this house she runs the show. She said she lives in the house with 3 other cats named Lu Lu, Thor and Phoenix. She said she doesn’t mind us staying in the room and she was just curious who was in there. She put her paw under the door and it is huge! One of the biggest paws I have ever seen. When I tried to smell it she hissed at me. I know from experience with Dori that this means I should back off so I went and took a nap. When foster mom got home today she played with us and petted us for a long time. She told us that she would be sad one day when we had to leave her family to go to our forever homes because she thinks we are really special. I am so glad she thinks we are special. Maybe one day someone will think we are special enough to join their family and we will have forever homes!

I just know our forever homes are out there! My foster mom said I am very handsome and I will have no problem finding my forever home. I hope she is right.

Day 6- Thursday

Today Dori and I played a little together. She let me know when she had enough.

I guess its because she is pregnant. Foster mom said this weekend she will introduce me to her cats. I am very excited about this because I just want someone to play with since Peyton isn’t around. Foster mom said she can feel the babies kicking in Dori’s belly.

The best thing that happened tonight was that our foster dad brought us something home called a “box.”

A box Is the best toy EVER. I jumped in the box and put my toys in the box. I had so much fun with it. Dori had fun playing with it too!  I was so tired out after playing with the box I was happy when foster mom plugged in our night light and turned off the lights. I hope our forever homes are just as fun as our foster home.

Day 7- Friday

We have officially been out of the shelter for a whole week. We really like it in our foster house.

We are worried about our friends that are still in the shelter. I wonder what happened to them? I hope they did not have to go in that back room that animals don’t come out of. I hope they found foster homes…or even better FOREVER homes. Tonight Dori and I played with a little red light that moves really fast all over the place. We tried to catch it over and over again.

It was a lot of fun. Maybe not as fun as a box. Foster mom got off early and was able to play more with us today and I am really tired. Anyway, it is almost time for bed. Tomorrow is the big day that I meet the other cats. I better get some sleep.

Love,

Dex
